We were very happy to be part of the poster presentation at the ACEs Summit: BC & Beyond. LOVE YOU: An evening of self-compassion

Discussion · Meditation · Yin Yoga

A gentle exploration of what we can gain from loving ourselves and radiating pure love from the inside out. This was a multi-sensory evening of insightful conversation with heart-opening meditation and healing yin yoga.

The evening was dedicated to self-love and self-compassion. The message and practice resonated through mind, body, heart and soul. In the introduction Michelle, spoke about the growing epidemic our society and communities face–how we treat ourselves in adversities big or small, and how we can only expand our hearts if we start by loving ourselves. Michelle also talked about the Blue Wave Foundation and CMHA BC, and expressed immense gratitude for attendees’ donations.

 

Next, Meenu Deol from Living Atman opened a discussion about the topic from a spiritual perspective. The group talked about what love is, love in relationships and how our longest relationship is with ourselves. The discussion finished up with each guest writing down what they need to hear, with some sharing. Some examples included:

 

“I am enough.”

“I am radiant.”

“I am a good person.”

 

It was quite powerful. Once our hearts were open Christina led a restorative and sweet yin yoga practice, a practice of self-love. The activities ended with an uplifting and confidence-boosting Kundalini chanting meditation.

 

The evening couldn’t have been better! The feedback was all positive, and guests were extremely appreciative. I noticed the feelings from that evening carried through their week, inspiring and motivating them. It’s interesting because the topic of self-love is not easy for everyone. The vulnerability makes some people uncomfortable, but everyone that was there that evening needed some level of self-love and self-compassion.

 

It was really needed, I think.
